What is your favorite part of helping clients with their insurance?
Since my role focuses on our small business clients, my favorite part is getting to know a lot of the small businesses across Kansas! Companies that I otherwise wouldn’t know or have an opinion on become a lot more personal when I get to meet the faces/personalities behind them! Will I ever need repair/servicing on commercial kitchen equipment? Highly doubt it, but I know I’d call Ryan! And that fast food franchise I visit once in a while? That’s not just supporting a chain corporation—that’s supporting Derrick and his family. It’s creating colleagues in every possible line of work and rooting for them, recognizing billboards no matter where I’m driving in Kansas, and adding meaning to places and companies I otherwise would never had the opportunity to meet.

What is your personal work motto or guiding principle?
Everyone around you is amazingly unique and valuable—take your time to hear their stories and lift them up! Kindness is free—we all have our role in making this world a better place.

Is there a fun skill or hidden talent most people don’t know about you?
I know these two typically surprise people: 1) In high school, I was really into vocal and competed in yearly contests—then, in college, I almost started as a music major on a scholarship! … Before I got cold feet and switched to English & Creative Writing a few weeks after accepting. Which leads to… 2) I’ve won two writing competitions (the only ones I’ve ever entered)—one that was campus-wide and another that was multi-state collegiate. I’ve also had a piece of mine published!

What is a small thing (like a snack or habit) that always makes your day better?
Can I say my coworkers? Cause they’re what always makes my day better! I know it’s going to be a good day no matter WHAT happens when I see everyone’s desk full! I truly think that, no matter what line of work we did, I would still love it so long as it was the same crew.
